Yoga for sound body and mind: CBC Guwahati organises Photo Exhibition at KendriyaVidyalaya, Khanapara

Awareness programme on International day of Yoga organised


NE Post, Guwahati: Ahead of the International Day of Yoga, Central Bureau of Communication(CBC), Regional office, Guwahati organised a three day long Photo exhibition andawareness programme at KendriyaVidyalaya, Khanapara from today. The exhibition aims at creating awareness among the youth about the multi-fold benefits of Yoga in their everyday lives. The exhibition displays more than 40 panels on Yoga and its origin, Freedom fighters of North East and 9 years of Seva, Sushasan and GaribKalyan.


Inaugurating the exhibition,Shri Rajinder K. Bhumbla, Inspector General, SashastraSeema Bal (SSB), Guwahati, said that, “Yoga helps in connecting the body with mind and sharpens our intellectual abilities. We can develop self-awareness and self-discipline from Yoga. I also follow Yoga in my everyday life which helps me to stay motivated.” He also said that he has visited many Yoga programmes and encourages the youth to practice Yoga.

Speaking to the students, Smt. Jane Namchu, Additional Director General, NE Zone, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, said that, “Yoga is a part of our ancient heritage and culture. It enhances our lives to develop a positive and healthy lifestyle. It is especially beneficial to students if we practice it regularly.”

Shri Chandra Shekhar Azad, Deputy Commissioner, KendriyaVidyalayaSangathan, said that, KendriyaVidyalayas all across the country encourages Yoga practice among students. He appreciated the initiative of CBC Guwahati for organizing such programme all across the State.

Shri MahadevDeka, renowned bodybuilder of Assam, presented a demonstration of bodybuilding poses to motivate young students to develop a healthier lifestyle.


Smt. Pavni Gupta, Deputy Director, Press Information Bureau, Guwahati, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Principal, KendriyaVidyalaya, Khanapara, Shri Manoj Kumar Lal, Accounts Officer, CBC, Smt. Hiramani Das, Field Exhibition Officer, CBC, and other officers and staff of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting were also present in the occasion. More than 600 students from KendriyaVidyalay, Guwahati participated in the programmeThe Departmental artistes of CBC, Guwahati performed an array of cultural programme on this occasion.

Ahead of the inaugural ceremony, a Yogasana Competition among the KV students were held where more than 100 students participated. The three-day exhibition will organise various competitions on the theme of Yoga including open quiz, art competition etc among students.
