Guwahati Records New COVID-19 Case, 28 Years Old Woman Tests Positive

Digital Desk, NE Post:
Guwahati witnessed a fresh COVID-19 case on Thursday, December 21, as a 28-year-old woman, reportedly from the city and recently returned from Sweden, tested positive. Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, addressing the media on the same day, directed the Health Department to maintain vigilance against a potential surge in COVID-19 cases.
Mahanta provided assurance to the public by declaring that currently, there are no recent COVID-19 cases reported in Assam, and no new variants have been identified within the state. It's worth mentioning that the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently classified JN.1 as a variant of interest, distinguishing it from its original lineage, BA.2.86.
