Yuva Sangam Phase-V Inaugurated at Assam University, Silchar

The much-anticipated inauguration of Yuva Sangam Phase-V programme under the initiative of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was held today at Assam University, Silchar. The programme, aimed at strengthening the bond between youth from different parts of India, thus team Chhattisgarh was graced by several esteemed dignitaries. Shri Parimal Suklabaidya, Hon'ble Member of Parliament for Silchar Loksabha Constituency, was the Chief Guest for the event, and his address focused on the significance of cultural exchange and the role of youth in bridging regional divides. He emphasized that such exchanges offer an invaluable opportunity for young people to learn about the diversity, traditions, and progress of different states, thus contributing to national integration. Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, the Vice Chancellor of Assam University and Chief Patron of the Programme Committee, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of Assam University’s long-standing role in fostering academic and cultural exchanges. He underscored the University’s commitment in creating an inclusive environment where youths from different backgrounds can come together, learn, and contribute to the nation’s progress. Other key dignitaries included Prof. Dilip Kumar Baidya, Director of the National Institute of Technology Silchar, who shared his insights on the importance of such programmes in shaping future leaders,

The inaugural session also saw the felicitation of several dignitaries with the traditional “uttoriyo,” recognizing their invaluable contributions to the programme. Prof. Chira Ranjan Bhattacharjee, Chairperson of the Programme Committee, played a key role in introducing the objectives of Yuva Sangam Phase-V, emphasizing its multi-dimensional exposure for youth participants under five main areas: Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology). Dr. Tapodhir Acharjee, Nodal Officer for the initiative, expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries and entire Assam University fraternity for their unwavering support. Other dignitaries present in the inaugural ceremony were Prof Anindya Shyam Choudhury, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof Prodipto Das, Proctor, Prof M.Tineshowri Devi, Director, Assam University Sports Board, Dr Arnab Paul Co-Nodal Officer, Yuva Sangam among others. Today’s events also included an exhibition of the indigenous sports and art of Thang-Ta. The event culminated with a cultural display, which highlighted the rich diversity of both Assam and Chhattisgarh. This prestigious programme supervised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and implemented by AICTE, has brought together 45 youth delegates with 4 coordinators from Chhattisgarh, who will spend the next few days exploring the culture, history, and progress of Assam, forging lasting connections with their peers from across the region. They will be visiting Rosekandy tea Estate , Sonbeel, Kamakya Temple,Noonmati oil refinery, Pobitora Wildslife Sanctury and Raj Bhawan.Dr. Shuvasish Choudhury, Associate Professor, Department of Life Science and Bioinformatics, Assam University, Silchar, and Dr. Aditi Nath, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Assam University, Silchar, hosted the event.
