Tenders Issued for 29 New Liquor Shops in Guwahati
Guwahati: The Kamrup (Metro) District Administration has issued tenders for 29 liquor shops across Guwahati, aiming to curb illegal liquor sales and boost government revenue.
Following a state-wide survey on unauthorized liquor sales, 33 problematic areas in Guwahati were identified, prompting the Excise Department to initiate tenders for the establishment of liquor shops in these locations.
Notable areas include Patharquary, Jalukbari, Bhagaduttapur, and others, with some regions granted licenses for two liquor shops. The move seeks to regulate the sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and prevent revenue loss for the government.
