IMD predicts extended rain and thunderstorms across North-East India

Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that mild to moderate rainfall is anticipated in the Northeastern states. This projection is based on the cyclonic circulation over central Assam, which is presently over northeast Assam and reaches up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Another feature affecting the weather pattern is a trough that stretches from east Bihar to the cyclonic circulation mentioned before.

Day-wise Forecast:

Day 1: There will be light to moderate rain in most of Arunachal Pradesh and in a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Day 2: The same areas are expected to see light to moderate rain, and the weather is expected to remain similar.

Day 3: Mild to moderate rain is predicted for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya; precipitation is also possible in a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Day 4: More rain is expected, mostly in Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, isolated regions of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may get periodic showers.

Day 5: There will be light to moderate rain in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and a few isolated locations in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Warnings:

Day 1: Sporadic areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur could see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching 40–50 kmph. Lightning strikes and thunderstorms are also possible in Arunachal Pradesh, and in certain areas, intermittent bouts of heavy rain are forecast.

Day 2: Thunderstorms with strong winds are predicted to occur in isolated areas of Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. Mizoram and Tripura might have weather similar to each other if the wind speed was slower. There's a chance that Arunachal Pradesh will have lightning, thunderstorms, and infrequently, heavy rain.

Day 3: Statewise, there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Isolated, heavy rain is expected in Arunachal Pradesh.

Day 4: Thunderstorms are predicted for isolated areas of Assam and Meghalaya, as well as for Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. There may also be strong winds along with the thunderstorms. It's expected to rain heavily to extremely heavily in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as heavily in some parts of Meghalaya and Assam.

Day 5: Strong gusting thunderstorms are predicted to occur sporadically throughout Assam and Meghalaya. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. There's a chance of heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

Guwahati local forecast:

Guwahati and the nearby areas are expected to have one or two episodes of rain or thundershowers along with partially cloudy skies. The predicted highest and lowest temperatures are 32°C and 22°C, respectively.
