Virat Kohli becomes first Indian to play 100 T20 matches at the same ground
Digital Desk: Tuesday's IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants was Virat Kohli's 100th T20 encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The legendary batsman for the Indian cricket team created history by being the first Indian player ever to play 100 T20 matches at one location. Rohit Sharma is second with 80 matches played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With 69 games played, MS Dhoni is ranked third in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In their IPL match, the Lucknow Super Giants could not surpass Royal Challengers Bengaluru's 181 for five, despite Quinton de Kock showcasing his amazing hitting prowess with a fifty. Nicholas Pooran (40 off 21) was the only other batsman to make runs against the RCB bowlers, as De Kock (81 off 55) skillfully selected the bowlers and areas around the ground to play his shots.
Before reaching 54 during the Power Play, the Super Giants had already amassed 32 runs without a loss in three overs. De Kock, who had a soft place for the pacer Mohammed Siraj, scored most of the runs.In just two overs, the South African left-hander hammered him for three consecutive sixes. In addition, he produced two excellent pulls and a stunning loft over mid-wicket. KL Rahul headed the team following his impact substitution entry against Punjab Kings. He scored six runs off of his first ten balls, which was a bad start.
However, he was somewhat fortunate in that Rajat Patidar misjudged his jump close to the rope and was unable to catch the ball, which gave him some momentum early in his innings. Next, he blasted left-arm pacer Yash Dayal with a six off spinner Glenn Maxwell's bat. However, Rahul was dismissed in the following ball as he attempted to drag a long ball from Maxwell into Mayank Dagar's hands inside the circle.
It was a terrible fight for Devdutt Padikkal during his 11-ball six. Eventually, stumper Anuj Rawat, who had to run a few yards backward to retrieve the ball, grabbed the left-hander's draw, putting Siraj out of his agony.
The second meaningful innings of the LSG innings started when Marcus Stoinis (24, 15b) and De Kock helped padikkal out and together they scored 56 runs off 30 balls for the third wicket.
De Kock held up his half of the bargain during this partnership, as Stoinis smashed a six off of Maxwell and Cameron Green. De Kock took 36 balls to get his fifty.
But the blossoming partnership ended when Dagar took exception to Stoinis's cavalier blow. By that point, the LSG needed a few more runs to go to safer ground—they were 143 for four in 16.3 overs.
Pooran's final assault included two more maximums from Siraj in the final over and three straight sixes from him off left-arm seamer Topley, but LSG may have wanted a better total.
