Lok Sabha Elections: “Guwahati will record highest winning margin” says Assam CM Sarma
Digital Desk: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win all five seats up for election in the first round of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. There are 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam; on April 19, five of them—Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat—went to the polls.
"In the first round, we'll win all five seats. In the second phase, we will also win the seat from Karimganj. With the exception of Dhubri, we will win additional seats in the third phase. In Dhubri, there is a good campaign underway. I haven't been to Dhubri yet, but after I go there, I'll learn about the situation there," Sarma said reporters.
The Guwahati team will have the largest winning margin. Earlier in the second phase, the seats in Nagaon and Karimganj were difficult for us, but today they are simple," he continued.
He announced that Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will be visiting Assam on Sunday and would be doing a roadshow in Silchar.
However, in response to questions concerning TMC chief Mamata Banerjee's claim that the Assamese BJP government has not been able to carry out enough development in the state and regarding TMC's intention to run for every seat in the upcoming assembly elections, he stated that Mamata Banerjee ought to concentrate on the advancement of West Bengal.
The Assamese economy will benefit from the candidates' expenditures, which will come from West Bengal if the TMC fields candidates for all 126 seats in the state assembly election. Hence, Mamata Banerjee is welcome,” he remarked.
The chief minister of Assam was present at a Karimganj election rally on Saturday, where BJP candidate Kripanath Mallah was running for the Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency.
Sarma went on to say that his cabinet will be reorganized following the election.
In the first round of voting, which took place in five parliamentary constituencies on Friday, Assam saw a voter turnout of 75.95 percent.
